Labor Day weekend DUI arrests down compared to last year
DUI arrests made by the California Highway Patrol were
down in San Diego County this year compared to last year during the period
from 6:01 p.m. on the Friday before Labor Day to 6 a.m. Monday.
The CHP made 57 arrests in the county during that period this year, down
from 60 during the same period last year. Two fatalities were reported in San
Diego County this year, the same number as in 2012.
Statewide the number of fatalities went up, with 24 people reported
killed in California during that period this year compared with 18 last year.
DUI arrests statewide were down, with 1,092 reported for that period
this year compared to 1,386 for the same period in 2012.
DUI arrests were only those made by CHP officers. Fatalities reported
were from all law enforcement agencies.
