Lakeside fire investigation underway
LAKESIDE (CNS) – Investigations were under way Monday into a pair of
weekend brush fires that scorched parts of Lakeside, according to Cal Fire.
The Horse Fire burned about 12 acres of brush in a rural area of
Lakeside Sunday afternoon, Cal Fire Capt. Mike Mohler said in a statement. It
broke out on Crazy Horse Drive near Morning Dove Road about 2:15 p.m. and was
contained roughly two hours later.
While crews were still mopping up from the Horse Fire, a blaze dubbed
the El Monte Fire broke out in El Monte Valley. It blackened five acres before
being contained, according to Mohler and a statement from the Lakeside Fire
District.
No one was injured and no structures were lost in either fire.
