Latest treatments and advancements in the fight against lung cancer

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Political Commentator and Conservative Radio Tallk Show Host Rush Limbaugh announced Monday that he has been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.

The 69-year-old is one of the most prominent Conservative voices on the air, and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump.

Lung cancer is the second-most common form of cancer in both men and women with approximately 228,820 new cases expected in the U.S. in 2020.

Recently, there has been a steady decline in the number of new lung cancer cases as well as the number of lung cancer-related deaths due to new treatments and advancements.

Dr. Michael P. Kosty, director of thoracic oncology at Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center, was in studio to tell us more.
