Latest Updates from the Padres Clubhouse

The San Diego Padres are having a solid month of June, but the big leaguers aren’t the only ones on a hot streak. Padre Minor League players are also on a high of their own. Three Chihuahuas chosen to represent San Diego in the All Star Futures Game July 10th, including Hunter Renfroe, who currently leads the PCL in home runs.

A couple injury updates, first it’s Andrew Cashner, who was put on the DL in early June due to a strain in his neck. Cashner making his rehab debut in Lake Elsinore Tuesday, if he performs well he could be back in the Padres pitching rotation shortly.

Joining him on the disabled list is Jon Jay, who suffered a forearm fracture during the Padres home series against the Nationals. "It’s definitely frustrating, especially the way we have been playing the month of June, there is still a lot of baseball left, and to be sitting out is the worst part," says Jay on the frustration of his injury. He is said to be out for 4 to 6 weeks, and surgery will not be necessary.

Visiting Petco Park with the Orioles for a two game series is San Diego Native and Morse High Alumni Adam Jones, who is a 5 time MLB All Star. "I think it’s great for the city; it’s been 24 years and the city of San Diego deserves to have it here."
