Law enforcement officer victim of robbery attempt in Ocean Beach

OCEAN BEACH (KUSI) — A Federal Law Enforcement Officer was the victim of a robbery Friday after he confronted a suspect reportedly stealing a bicycle from his backyard. 

The victim was standing on the second floor of his home near Narragansett and Sunset Cliffs Boulevard. He saw Adan Bustos, 23, remove a bicycle from his backyard and place the bicycle in the bed of a blue Chevy pick up truck.

The victim is a Federal Law Enforcement Officer. The victim retrieved his Badge and identification and went outside to confront the suspect.

The vehicle was occupied by Bustos and Arisdelsi Sanches, 23, in the passenger seat. The victim approached the suspects in the vehicle and identified himself by saying "Stop Police".

The suspects took off in the truck and the victim jumped into the bed of the truck as they were driving away. The suspects failed to stop for over seven miles. They exited the freeway, getting off in the downtown area.

The victim called the police from his cell phone to report the incident.

Bustos crashed the truck into a large concrete planter box, in the area of 4th Ave and K St. Sanches exited the vehicle and fled on foot. She was later taken into custody in the area of 500 K St.

The victim was able to get out of the truck bed and Bustos drove away. The vehicle stopped at 6th and K St and rolled backward, crashing into a parked vehicle. Bustos ran away and got into a taxi in the area of 6th Ave and L St. 

Police were notified Bustos was in the taxi and stopped it at 600 Harbor Drive. Bustos was taken into custody without incident.

The Chevy pick-up was a stolen vehicle. The suspects were arrested and subsequently booked into Jail on a variety of felony charges.

Central Division is investigating.
