Law enforcement to crack down on post-Fair DUI’s
DEL MAR (CNS) – Beer enthusiasts beware. Law enforcement personnel will
be out in force this weekend looking for impaired drivers near the San Diego
County Fair as the Del Mar venue hosts an international beer festival, the
sheriff's department announced Friday.
“If you drive drunk, (law enforcement agencies) will be looking for
you,” San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. David Cheever said. “If you're over the
limit, you will be arrested.”
The crackdown will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, he said in a statement.
In addition to the sheriff's department, the crackdown will involve
officers from the Coronado, National City and UC San Diego police departments
and the San Diego County Probation Department.
The fair is hosting the 7th annual San Diego International Beer
Competition and Festival from today to Sunday. Fair officials said event-goers
will pay a $55 entrance fee and be invited to enjoy unlimited beer samples from
19 countries and 22 states.
