Leslie Lopez Weather Discussion – Monday, December 8, 2014

It’s going to be a wonderful and warm afternoon today! We are expected to reach 80° Inland today and remain lovely and comfortable at the Coast at 74°.

This warm weather pattern will shift to a slow cool-down starting tomorrow and day by day we will cool off right through the weekend getting to the upper 60’s for the weekend.

RAIN:

The reason for the cool-down is the migration of a storm coming our way from the Pacific Northwest on Friday. So far, it looks like we may receive some nice rainfall totals and also some snowfall.

For the Coast anywhere from .75″ – 1.25″; Inland 1.00″ to 1.50″; Mountains 2″ – 3″, Desert .25″ or less.

Right now, it looks like the snowfall totals will remain above 7,000 feet Friday afternoon with a dusting to a couple of inches. It will then drop to about 5,500 feet in the evening and likely our local mountains will not see snow accumulations, unfortunately.

Saturday morning, we are expecting to see a few spotty showers hang around, then back to warmer weather on Sunday.

SURF:

We have a Beach Hazards Statement in place beginning tonight through Saturday evening, Surf is expected to reach 5-8 footers with an occasional 9 footer rolling in on Wednesday. The current will be strong, therefore rip currents are a concern the next few days. Stay cautious out there!
