Leslie Lopez Weather Discussion – Monday, October 6, 2014
There are a few changes on the way this week, thanks to Tropical Storm Simon. Simon is making its way up the Baja Peninsula, quickly losing strength. It will veer onshore and push right through Arizona and Nevada. San Diego will remain a bit too far to the west to get any significant rainfall, although a chance of thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon is possible.
As we have seen this season with similar tropical storms, outflow boundaries could develop and bring us some erratic weather like we saw with the microbursts we received from Odile through the Kearny Mesa area last month. The chance of this reoccurring is very low, but the chance for any unstable weather is best tomorrow and Wednesday mostly for the mountains and deserts.
Simon’s cloud coverage along with an upper level low is also helping cool us off into the week. The cooling will last through Thursday, then we’ll begin to see drier and warmer weather develop for the weekend. A little swing of the pendulum, but this coming weekend is not expected to be as hot as this past weekend.
Enjoy this week and happy Monday!
This beautiful pic of the sun rising in Borrego Springs comes to us from Sandy Link. Thanks Sandy!
