Leslie Lopez Weather Discussion, Monday September 15, 2014

Hot temperatures continue today into tomorrow with a Heat Advisory continuing until 7p.m. tomorrow evening! High pressure dominates the West and will tap into to some monsoonal moisture from Hurricane Odile by tomorrow as well. Right now Odile is a Category 2 hurricane, expecting to continue to weaken as it makes its way up the Baja Peninsula.

The added moisture will increase our humidity. There is a chance for thunderstorms in the mountains and deserts beginning today into Friday. The best chance for showers arrives Wednesday, and is also more widespread to include the Inland/Valley areas.

Even though we will be about 2 degrees cooler tomorrow, we may not feel much relief on account of the humidity. We’ll likely feel little to no change.

The waves will pick up by tomorrow. Today we are seeing 2 – 3 feet waves, but by tomorrow it will be closer to 4 – 6 footers, thanks to Odile.

Relief from the heat arrives Thursday and Friday as a low pressure system from the North cools us off!

There are several cooling stations throughout the county today and can be found on our homepage under the “Only on KUSI” tab under the “Links Mentioned on KUSI”.

Heat Advisory – “Abnormally hot temperatures can be stressful to animals and humans, making it hard fro the body to acclimate and remain hydrated. Without precautions even healthy adults could experience heat stress and illness. ”
