Leslie Lopez Weather Discussion – Tuesday, September 23, 2014

Another warm day today in San Diego, but that will change by the weekend and we’ll get a taste what fall is suppose to feel like. Today is the first official full day of fall and temperatures are in the 90’s Inland – not unusual for September in San Diego, but I am still just a little sad to say goodbye to summer. It was a lovely summer and I’m sure it will be a lovely fall and hopefully a rainy winter, although El Nino isn’t developing as strong as we would like this year.

After a few days of warm weather this week, we will turn around our weather pattern and look towards the north for a low pressure system and a cool down which will swing down by the weekend.

Right now the storm is bringing in downpours to Washington, but by the time it arrives in San Diego, only drizzle is expected at this point. Strong gusty winds will also affect some of our mountains and desert foothills. There will be a change in surf and in water temperatures with a northwest wind swell developing and finally, the clouds will thicken up just a bit.

Tomorrow morning there is also a chance for some fog and drizzle. Moisture is stacking up along the coastal areas, so if it begins to sprinkle during your commute to work slow it down as roads are expected to be slick. Play it safe out there and have a fantastic week!
