Leslie Lopez’s Weather Discussion – Friday, May 8, 2015
The heavy rainfall we experienced Friday morning is slowly diminishing and moving to the east. Looks like we will get one more heavy wave of rainfall between 1pm – 4pm this afternoon, then rain becomes lighter and more infrequent for the remained of the afternoon into the evening.
This second wave will move inland from the Pacific towards Coronado, then dive towards Chula Vista then Imperial Beach and move Inland towards National City and La Mesa, further out to Jamul and eventually to the Mountains and Deserts where we are expecting to receive more rain along the foothills.
It is currently 12:30pm and so far here are some current rainfall totals:
Warner Springs – 1.00″
Kearney Mesa – .61″
Escondido – .82″
La Mesa – .44″
Point Loma .31″
Santee – .50″
Julian – .64″
La Jolla – .5″
Valley Center – .5″
There is also a Winter Weather Advisory. Mount Laguna has received an inch of snow. More snow is expected later today at the 6,000 feet and above.
A Wind Advisory is also in effect, but winds are currently dying down.
There is also a Marine Weather Statement as waterspouts and lightning are a possibility and mariners should take caution.
I am predicting by 6pm most showers will be on the way out of San Diego and only light lingering and scattered showers will remain through 10pm – 11pm.
Tomorrow morning, most areas will be clear and dry, however the mountains will have a delay in getting the sunshine, but it will arrive late morning – afternoon.
Mother’s Day look exceptional and beautiful with partly cloudy skies, high 60’s Coastal and low 70’s Inland.
