Lindbergh Field conducts terrorist attack drill
SAN DIEGO – What looked like a scary scene at Lindbergh Field Wednesday, was just an exercise, but an important one.
The airport conducted an emergency drill. The scenario? A bomb damaged a boarding aircraft and the gate area.
The purpose of the drill was to test emergency response capabilities in case of a terrorist attack.
Around a dozen agencies and over 140 volunteers participated in the exercise.
The FAA requires all major airports to conduct this kind of live-action exercise at least once a every three years.
