16 people trapped on SeaWorld San Diego ride

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — UPDATE: All 16 guests have been rescued from the gondolas at SeaWorld San Diego and are safe on the ground.
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — UPDATE: Technical Rescue Team firefighters have rescued 14 of the 16 passengers stuck on the Bayside Skyride. They are being evaluated by medical crews as they are brought to a dock.

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — Police say 16 people are trapped on the Bayside Skyride at SeaWorld in San Diego.

Due to an unusual gust of significant wind, the operations of the Bayside Skyride stopped. A number of guests are currently on the Skyride seated in five gondolas. SeaWorld San Diego is currently working with San Diego Fire & Rescue and the San Diego Lifeguards to evacuate the guests from the ride.

There are blankets on board each gondola and evacuations will be conducted in accordance with the highest safety standards.

The National Weather Service says it was about 49 degrees in San Diego at the time.
