Local Tuskegee Airmen captain laid to rest at Fort Rosecrans Cemetery

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — One of only two local San Diego Tuskegee Airmen was laid to rest Friday.

Capt. Claude Rowe, passed away on Sept. 20th at the age of 97.

He was the only known documented Tuskegee Airman who had two sets of wings; first from the Royal Canadian Air Force, and then he went to Tuskegee where he earned his 2nd set of wings in 1946.

He later became a Weather Officer and also a WB-50 Pilot Superfortress pilot.

On Friday he was laid to rest at Fort Rosecrans Cemetery with full military honors.
