Lomita-area house fire displaces six
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A late-morning fire damaged a Lomita-area home Tuesday, displacing six people and killing a pair of pet ferrets.
The blaze in the 700 block of Glencoe Drive erupted for unknown reasons at approximately 11 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Fire crews had the fire under control within approximately 10 minutes, after neighbors used garden hoses to try to douse the flames prior to their arrival, SDFRD Capt. Joe Amador said.
The personnel found the dead animals in cages in a bedroom, Amador said.
All the displaced residents were adults, and the American Red Cross was called in to help them.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
