Update: Man killed in Mast Blvd. vehicle accident identified

SANTEE (KUSI) — 5:06 p.m. — The 23-year-old man killed Wednesday in a vehicle accident involving a semi-truck on Mast Blvd. was identified by authorities.

Tyler De Guide-Rickard of Spring Valley ran a stoplight at high speed while exiting westbound state Route 52 onto Mast Boulevard about 5:15 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

De Guide-Rickard’s vehicle struck the back of the eastbound semi broadside, winding up wedged beneath it with the mortally injured victim pinned inside, the CHP reported. He died at the scene.

No one else was hurt in the crash, San Diego police Officer Dan Lasher said.

11:00 a.m. — All lanes on the SR-52 have been reopened after a fatal accident involving a semi-truck and an SUV on an intersection near Mast Blvd caused a Sig Alert to be issued. 

6:40 a.m. — A fatal accident involving a semi-truck and an SUV has shut down ramps to and from the SR-52 in Santee.

The westbound and eastbound off-ramps will be closed for an extended period of time and motorists can expect major traffic delays due to the accident that occurred near Mission Trails Regional Park, according to the Sig Alert.

The closures were issued after an SUV became wedged under a semi-truck near the on-ramp to the westbound SR-52 at Mast Blvd. One motorist died at the scene according to the California Highway Patrol but more information was not readily available.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes to SR-52 as traffic delays can be expected for several hours.
