Man accidentally shoots friend, girlfriend in leg

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A registered gun owner accidentally shot his girlfriend and a male acquaintance at a home in the Nestor area early Wednesday but both victims were expected to survive, police said.

The shooting in the 2800 block of Wardlow Avenue was reported shortly before 1 a.m., according to San Diego police.

The gun owner apparently had his finger on the trigger as he went to set the weapon on a table and accidentally fired one shot, said San Diego police Lt. David Rohowits.

The bullet went through one of the woman's legs and wound up lodged in one of the legs of the male acquaintance, he said. Paramedics took both victims to a hospital.

It was unclear whether the gun owner might face criminal charges.
