Man arrested for allegedly strangling Vista woman in motor home

VISTA (KUSI) — A parolee already behind bars will be re-booked on suspicion of murdering a Vista woman he had dated, authorities reported Tuesday.

Nathan Carmello Rivera, 42, allegedly strangled 49-year-old Donna Hixon last week in a motor home parked on a residential property in the 1000 block of
La Rueda Drive.

Deputies responding to a reported assault in the rural neighborhood shortly before noon Friday found Hixon dead, according to sheriff’s officials. An autopsy determined that she had been strangled, homicide Lt. Kenneth Nelson said.

Rivera was booked into county jail in Vista on suspicion of auto theft the following evening.

Authorities did not immediately disclose what led them to identify Rivera as Hixon’s alleged killer.
