Man arrested on suspicion of beating wife

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A North County man was arrested Monday on suspicion of beating his wife with his fists and a five-pound dumbbell.

Octavio Savalza, 40, allegedly attacked the woman shortly before 4 a.m. while she slept in their home in the 2200 block of Primrose Avenue in unincorporated Vista, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Savalza fled, and medics took the victim to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido with head and face injuries, Sgt. Tom Ness said.

About an hour later, deputies arrested Savalza in San Marcos and booked on suspicion of attempted murder and spousal abuse, the sergeant said.
