Man arrested on suspicion of murder of baby boy
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 38-year-old man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of murder in connection with the 2012 death of a baby boy who suffered neck and spine injuries at a San Diego daycare facility.
James Patrick Nemeth of San Diego was arrested by investigators about 3:30 p.m. and booked into the San Diego County Jail on suspicion of murder, said Lt. Paul Rorrison of the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
Officers called to San Diego Daycare in the 4300 block of Mount Davis Avenue about 3:50 p.m. on May 23, 2012 found the 11-month-old unconscious, Rorrison said.
The child was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead the following morning, he said, adding that the medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.
Nemeth had operated the daycare facility where the child, Louis Michael Oliver, was injured, according to reports, which reported that the infant suffered head and spine trauma.
The investigation is now in the hands of the Family Protection Unit of the District Attorney’s Office, Rorrison said.
