Man assaulted by carjacker

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 24-year-old man was assaulted by a carjacker who pulled him out of his car in the Oak Park neighborhood Sunday and drove off with it.

The suspect approached the victim shortly before 3:30 p.m. as he was sitting in his 2014 gray Chrysler 200 sedan in the 3100 block of 54th Street near Chollas Station Road, San Diego police Officer Frank Cali said.

The carjacker hit the victim in the head several times before pulling him out of his car and driving eastbound on Redwood Street. The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries, Cali said.

Police described the suspect as a 180 pound, 5-foot-10 black male in his late 30s wearing shorts.
