Man attempts to rob Downtown sandwich shop at knifepoint
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A knife-wielding man was taken into custody shortly after he attempted to rob a sandwich shop in downtown San Diego early Thursday, police said.
The man tried to rob the Subway sandwich shop at 1111 Sixth Ave. around 1:40 a.m., according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.
He threatened an employee with a knife while demanding cash but the employee refused and the suspect fled empty-handed, Delimitros said in a statement.
A witness saw the man leave and pointed him out to officers, who arrested him without further incident, Delimitros said.
