Man barricades himself inside rehabilitation facility using soda machine

EL CAJON (KUSI) – A man barricaded himself inside a rehabilitation center Friday afternoon after driving on the wrong side of the road and then crashing.

At 5:40, El Cajon Police pulled the suspect over for a possible stolen vehicle.

The driver refused to pullover and fled, at times driving on the wrong side of the road.

The driver crashed the vehicle and fled on foot to the Country Hills Health Care and Rehabilitation Center at 1580 Broadway.

He allegedly used a soda machine to barricade himself inside an employee break room. 

Eventually, El Cajon Police were able to talk him into surrendering around 7:30 p.m. and they took him into custody.
