Man beaten and stabbed with golf club in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A man was hospitalized Saturday after he was beaten and stabbed with a golf club during a fight with another man.

Officers were called to the 4600 block of Montezuma Road in the College West area for a reported assault with a deadly weapon, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.

Authorities learned that a 20-year-old man was driving his car with three other people inside when he got into an argument with one of the passengers, a 21-year-old man, pulled the car over and tried to grab the passenger, Heims said.

The suspect and the victim began fighting and during the fight, the suspect went to the car and grabbed a golf club and began hitting the victim with it, he said.

The golf club broke as the suspect was hitting the victim and the suspect started to stab the victim, said Heims.

Both men were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening wounds.
