Man dies four days after being hit by car

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A 35-year-old man seriously injured when he was struck by a Dodge Charger on El Cajon Boulevard died four days after the crash, authorities said Wednesday.

Anton Rogers was crossing the 4900 block of El Cajon Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk in the Colinas Del Sol neighborhood when he was struck about 9:15 p.m. on Dec. 11, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Police initially believed his injuries, though serious, were not life-threatening, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims. But he was admitted to Scripps Mercy Hospital with injuries doctors considered traumatic.

Around 8 p.m. Friday, about four days after the collision, Rogers died, the medical examiner’s office said. The cause of death was listed as a  traumatic brain injury, while a blunt force wound to his thorax was listed as a contributing factor.
