Man falls to his death at South Bay workplace

CHULA VISTA (CNS) – A 61-year-old employee of a South Bay sandblasting supplies company fell to his death at his workplace Thursday, authorities
reported.

The man was working on the exterior of a warehouse at the Kleen Blast
plant in the 600 block of Moss Street in Chula Vista about noon when he plunged
about 25 feet off a platform that was being raised by a forklift, according to
police.

He landed on a concrete deck and died at the scene a short time later,
CVPD Capt. Gary Wedge said. The San Diego resident's identity was withheld
pending notification of his family.

The state Occupational Safety and Health Administration was called in to
investigate the fatality.
