Man hospitalized with burns to torso after fire breaks out at Chula Vista cabinet store

CHULA VISTA (KUSI) — A man was hospitalized Monday after receiving severe burns to his torso when a fire broke out at the cabinet shop he worked at.

According to Chula Vista Fire, the worker was spraying a cabinet with lacquer when it somehow caught fire. He attempted to put the fire out himself, but was burned on his arms and torso in the process.

He was taken by ambulance to UCSD San Diego Regional Burn Center. His name or the extent of his injuries was unknown. 

The incident happened at 4:27 p.m. at 130 North Glover Ave. at Lovell Cabinets in Chula Vista. 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
