Man killed in Chula Vista car crash identified

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 21-year-old man who died in a solo car crash on a South Bay thoroughfare was publicly identified on Tuesday.

Robert Aziz of El Cajon was driving to the east in the 700 block of Main Street in Chula Vista on Monday morning when he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons, sending it veering off the roadway and crashing into a palm tree, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office.

Medics took him to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 9 a.m.

Aziz was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, authorities said.
