Man killed while riding motorcycles with his father

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A man riding motorcycles with his father was killed in a crash in Encinitas.

John Wilcsek, 28, of Encinitas, and his father were riding their motorcycles Saturday, on Rancho Santa Fe Road. As they rounded a corner near Peppertree Lane, the man’s bike hit a Hyundai sedan that had been stopped at a traffic light, according to a final crash report from the sheriff’s office, and the Medical Examiner’s office.

The crash threw Wilcsek into oncoming traffic, where he was hit by an Infiniti SUV.

Response teams found the victim on the ground and his motorcycle in flames. He was taken to Scripps Hospital, where he later died.

No other injures were reported. Investigators didn’t think alcohol was involved.
