Man pistol-whipped, carjacked in Clairemont parking lot

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A driver was pistol-whipped and carjacked in the Clairemont area Tuesday night, and San Diego police are still searching for the assailant.

The driver and a passenger were approached by two men with guns while sitting inside a beige 2002 Hyundai Elantra with California license plate 6DJR871 in a shopping center parking lot on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard near Rolfe Road just after 9 p.m, San Diego police Sgt. David Jennings said. The suspects pulled the driver and passenger out of the car and pistol-whipped the driver.

One of the suspects drove off in the driver’s car and the other took off in a dark sedan, possibly a Honda, Jennings said.

A detailed description of the suspects was not immediately available but Jennings said they were both 20 to 25 years old and wearing dark clothing.
