Man robbed, shot in Clairemont apartment

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A thief Monday shot a Clairemont Mesa man while robbing
him in the victim's apartment, along with three accomplices, authorities
reported.

The 25-year-old resident made an emergency call shortly before 11:30
a.m. to report the holdup and gunfire in the 3700 block of Boyd Avenue,
according to San Diego police.

Patrol personnel had to force entry to the residence to get to the
victim, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen, SDPD public-affairs
Officer Ed Zwibel said. He described the bandits as teenage boys or young men
and said they ran off following the shooting.

Medics took the wounded man to Sharp Memorial Hospital.

Police searched the area for the robbers by ground and aboard a patrol
helicopter. There had been no arrests by early afternoon, Zwibel said.

It was unknown what, if anything, the thieves stole from the victim.
