Man robs adult bookstore in Hillcrest

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Police were searching today for the gunman who robbed an adult bookstore in the Hillcrest area early Sunday but did not injure anyone.

The robbery took place about 1:50 a.m. at the Romantix bookstore at 1407 University Ave, according to San Diego police Sgt. Brad O’Donnell.

The man entered the bookstore, walked up to the clerk, pulled out a silver handgun and demanded money, police said. The clerk then handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, O’Donnell said.

After the clerk handed over the money, the robber then ordered the clerk to lay down on the floor, O’Donnell continued. The gunman then fled the scene on foot.

The suspect was described as a white man, between 40 and 50-years-old. The suspect stood about 6 feet 2 inches tall, was of medium build, had a white towel over his head and was last seen wearing a black, puffy jacket and dark jeans.

The SDPD Robbery unit was investigating this crime, O’Donnell said.
