Man shot and killed during deputy-involved shooting identified
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – 6:20 a.m. – The man during a deputy-involved shooting on Las Pulgas Road on the I-5 Tuesday, was identified Wednesday afternoon.
Daniel Robert Avila, 56, was shot and killed after a confrontation with deputies.

8/4/2015 – A male suspect, claiming he was armed, was fatally shot Tuesday by Orange County Sheriff's Deputies following a standoff near Camp Pendleton.
According to deputies, the man was holed up in a car and refused to surrender for nearly an hour before getting out and approaching the deputies in a threatening manner.
The incident began around 12:30 p.m. when a driver pulled up next to a deputy conducting a traffic stop on another driver on the southbound Las Pulgas Road exit from the I-5, saying he had committed a crime and was armed with a weapon.
According to authorities, the suspect then refused to exit his vehicle, prompting the deputy to call for backup.
Just before 1:30 p.m., deputies opened fire on the man, killing him at the scene.
The suspect's name was not immediately available.
Lanes were closed, causing heavy southbound traffic through the afternoon.
