Man shot by carjacker Monday

PAUMA VALLEY (KUSI) – Man shot by carjacker after driving him from Temecula to Pauma Valley Monday.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Lauhon said, the victim, 46, was giving the suspect a ride from Temecula to Valley Center when the suspect pulled a gun and ordered the driver to pull over on State Route 76 near Cole Grade Road around 1 a.m.. A struggle over the gun ensued.


The victim was able to escape the vehicle and attempted to run away when he was shot in the leg.

The suspect drove off in the victim’s vehicle, which was recovered nearby a short time later, Lauhon said.

The suspect was described as Indian, mid-20s, with short hair and a tattoo on the side of his face,
