Man shot in City Heights

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 22-year-old man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the abdomen in the City Heights section of San Diego Sunday  in what police called a domestic violence situation and a person of interest was later taken into custody at a nearby home, authorities said.

The shooting happened about 3:50 p.m. in the 4000 block of Wilson Avenue, said San Diego police Sgt. Brad O’Donnell.

The victim gave investigators information that led them to a house in the 3500 block of Orange Avenue and officers surrounded the home about 4:40 p.m., O’Donnell said.

“We did a contain and call-out, the person of interest came out of the house, we detained him and the investigation is continuing but it appears to be a domestic violence situation,” the sergeant said.

He did not have details about how the detained man, who is approximately 30, and the shooting victim were connected.

A weapon was not immediately recovered, O’Donnell said.
