Man shot in Pt. Loma

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A shooting in a residential neighborhood in Point Loma
Heights left a man seriously wounded and two men in custody Monday,
authorities reported.

A man made an emergency call shortly after 3:30 p.m. to report that his
brother had just been shot in the chest in the 3800 block of Nipoma Place,
according to San Diego police.

Medics took the victim to UCSD Medical Center. His prognosis was not
immediately available.

Witnesses reported seeing three possible suspects ditch an SUV, possibly
a Jeep Cherokee, on a nearby roadside shortly after the shooting, then jump
out and run off, SDPD public-affairs Lt. Kevin Mayer said.

Police fanned out through the area and detained two men in the 3500
block of Browning Street, about a mile south of the site of the shooting, about
4 p.m.

It was unclear what might have prompted the gunfire.
