Man shot twice after ramming his car into off-duty deputies at Vista 7-Eleven

VISTA (KUSI) — Off-duty sheriff’s deputies broke up an altercation at a 7-Eleven in Vista at 2 a.m. Sunday morning, ending with the driver of a vehicle where the disturbance was happening being shot twice by authorities.

The incident occurred in the 1500 block of East Vista Way. Officers saw a crowd gathered near a parked car and intervened to diffuse the situation. 

The driver put his car into reverse and reportedly struck two of the off-duty deputies, forcing one of the officers beneath the car. Both officers who were hit suffered non-life threatening injuries and were treated at an area hospital. The suspect proceeded to drive his car forward into a third officer, who then opened fire on the driver and struck him twice, according to Homicide Lt. Kenneth Nelson. 

The driver, identified as 32-year-old Alejandro Blanco, was tended to by the deputies once the car came to a stop. He was taken to a local hospital and suffered non-life threatening injuries. The shooting was investigated by detectives from the sheriff’s homicide detail. Any possible pending charges against the driver were still being evaluated by detectives.
