Man stabbed during robbery in Escondido
ESCONDIDO (CNS) – A 19-year-old man was recovering in a hospital Tuesday from a stab wound he suffered in a late-night street robbery near Escondido Public Library.
The victim showed up at his girlfriend’s home about 10 p.m. Monday and told her he’d been attacked while walking in the area of East Fourth Avenue and South Kalmia Street, police Sgt. Eric Distel said.
The young man said he’d felt a blow to his back and passed out, then awoke to find that his wallet was gone. His girlfriend took him to Palomar Medical Center, where he was admitted for treatment of a stab wound to his back and a collapsed lung, the sergeant said.
The victim, whose name was withheld, is expected to survive. The man told detectives he did not see his attacker, Distel said.
