Man stabbed in Encanto while children played soccer nearby

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A man was stabbed twice Wednesday night near the Encanto Recreation Center while a children’s soccer game was going on.

Police were looking for the assailant Thursday who attacked the 52-year old victim, who was drinking wine on a staircase on Broadway near 65th Street shortly before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said. The suspect then got back into a gray Toyota pickup truck and drove off.

The victim suffered knife wounds to his neck and abdomen, but Delimitros said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Police described the suspect as a bald 5-foot-8 Hispanic man in his early 30s dressed in black clothing.
