Man struck while jaywalking across busy Escondido intersection
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A man was struck while attempting to walk across an Escondido intersection Sunday night.
The 58-year-old driver from San Marcos struck the pedestrian at Lincoln Avenue and Broadway around 11:15 p.m.
According to Escondido police Lt. Justin Murphy said the driver entered the intersection on a green light and did not see the man in time to stop.
The victim, approximately 35 years in age, was lying in the roadway when police arrived. He was taken to Palomar Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
His name is being withheld until the family can be notified.
Police say Murphy was not suspected of drunken driving.
