Man suffers serious burns in Solana Beach apartment fire

SOLANA BEACH (CNS) – A man suffered burns on 50% of his body in
an apartment fire in Solana Beach early Wednesday, authorities said.

The fire at 833 South Cedros Ave. erupted around 2 a.m., according to
San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Joe Tomaiko.

Firefighters rescued the injured man from an apartment and took him to
UCSD Burn Center to treat serious burns covering 50% of his body, the
sergeant said in a statement.

A total of six apartments were evacuated, he said.

Because a serious injury occurred, the sheriff's bomb arson unit was
called to investigate the cause of the blaze.
