Man suspected in the death of Encanto man arrested in Chicago

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A man wanted for the shooting death of a 24-year-old San Diego man in the Encanto neighborhood last month was arrested Tuesday in Chicago.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force took Lawrence M. Tate into custody as he was leaving a residence on the south side of Chicago, according to the U.S. Marshal Service.

San Diego police said Tate and an alleged accomplice, Jarvis Starks, went on the run following the death of Omar Anthony Largo, who was confronted by two gunmen during a small gathering of people in the backyard of a home in the 2100 block of Winnett Street on the evening of Nov. 8.

A motive for the shooting was not disclosed.

Starks was arrested in Wisconsin on Dec. 1, according to the federal agency.

The Marshals Service said Tate would be extradited to San Diego to face a murder charge.
