Man suspected of DUI crashes into building near elementary school

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A man suspected of driving under the influence was facing charges Wednesday after crashing his speeding car into a building in University Heights.

The 21-year old was speeding, according to police, when he lost control of a Honda Civic and crashed into a building just before 10 p.m. Tuesday near Alice Birney Elementary School. The car careened across a grassy area before crashing into the building, San Diego police officer Dino Delimitros said.

The man suffered a broken foot and internal injuries in the crash, Delimitros said.  His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
