Man suspected of killing pedestrian in DUI over holiday weekend

OCEANSIDE (KUSI) — A man suspected of killing a pedestrian in an alcohol-related crash in Oceanside over the holiday weekend was facing charges Monday.

Michael Foxworthy, 46, pulled his SUV over and waited for police following the crash around 11:15 p.m. Sunday on eastbound state Route 76 near Interstate 5, Oceanside police Sgt. Ignacio Lopez said.

Foxworthy’s SUV slammed into an unidentified woman as she was attempting to dash across the highway. A witness told investigators the victim failed to look for oncoming vehicle traffic and was struck, according to the sergeant.

The woman was airlifted Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and later died, Lopez said.
