Man who allegedly raped East County woman behind bars
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A man was behind bars Thursday for allegedly raped an East County woman at her home last month and then stole from her.
According to sheriff's officials, members of the regional fugitive task force arrested Robert Ricardo Ortega, 22, of City Heights, Wednesday.
On June 17, Ortega allegedly confronted the victim outside her home on Berry Street in Lemon Grove, then forced her inside, sexually assaulted her and stole valuables before fleeing the scene.
Ortega is being held on $1 million bail at the San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of burglary, rape, sodomy, forcible oral copulation and petty theft.
An arraignment is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
