Man who died on Mission Bay over weekend identified
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 29-year-old man who died in a watercraft accident on Mission Bay was identified Tuesday.
Miguel Santiago of San Diego fell off an inner tube-type flotation device as it was being towed across the harbor by a personal watercraft shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office.
Family members searched the waters for a time before finding Santiago floating face-down, authorities said. Medics tried in vain to revive him at the scene, then took him to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
A cause-of-death ruling was on hold pending autopsy results.
