Man who held girlfriend against her will ordered to domestic violence classes
VISTA (KUSI) – A man who held his girlfriend against her will and assaulted another woman was ordered Tuesday to take 52 weeks of domestic violence classes.
Garth Clem, 37, pleaded guilty last month to felony false imprisonment and other misdemeanor charges. He was also ordered to stay away from the two victims.
Clem was arrested Feb. 24 at an apartment in the 600 block of South Twin Oaks Valley Road in San Marcos.
According to San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Paul Michalke. around 8:15 that night, deputies were asked to conduct a welfare check at an apartment in the area. Once there, they heard a female screaming, and a witness directed them to an apartment.
The victim met deputies at the front door and was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries sustained during the assault.
Clem was taken into custody inside the apartment with the help of a police dog.
