Manhole cover blown off closes downtown streets

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Authorities have shut down B Street between 16th and 17th avenues, near San Diego City College, to investigate an underground explosion that blew off a manhole cover, according to San Diego police.

No one was hurt, but the roadway will be shut down for an unknown duration.

San Diego Fire Department said it is an electrical vault owned by SDG&E and they have a crew here working on the problem. Fire crews said they will stay on scene while SDG&E works to resolve the issue.
