Man’s body found near Belmont Park

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – The body of a transient in his 40s was found Wednesday
near the Belmont Park roller coaster.

Passers-by spotted the unidentified man about 6 a.m., lying face-down in
the park at Bonita Cove, near the intersection of Mission Boulevard and West
Mission Bay Drive, and called police.

San Diego police homicide Lt. Jorge Duran said officers summoned the
Homicide Unit after they noticed trauma to the body, although it appeared the
injuries would not have been life-threatening.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's office will conduct an autopsy
to determine the cause of death, Duran said.

“Pending (an) autopsy tomorrow we'll know more on whether or not he was
murdered, or whether or not he had some sort of medical issue,” Duran said.
