Many San Diego freeway connector ramps will begin closures Tuesday night
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Several San Diego and National City freeway connectors and onramps will be closed starting Tuesday night for Caltrans work.
Caltrans crews plan to close the onramps to northbound state Route 163 from 10th and Washington streets and Sixth Avenue from 8 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday. The same closures are expected for the same hours through Friday morning. Motorists will be able to use the Robinson Avenue onramp to access northbound state Route 163, according to Caltrans.
Each night through Thursday from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next morning, connector ramps from northbound state Route 163 to Interstate 8 and Friars Road will be closed. Motorists headed to Interstate 8 or Friars Road will be detoured off northbound 163 at Genesee Avenue, then west to southbound state Route 163 then to Friars Road or the freeway, state transit officials said.
Through Thursday, from 10 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following day, connector ramps from state Route 54 to northbound Interstate 805 will also be closed, along with the offramp from the northbound freeway to Plaza Boulevard .
Drivers on state Route 54 will be detoured to the southbound 805 then Bonita Road before heading back to the northbound freeway, according to Caltrans.
